GVR High School Students Build a Robot to Keep Water Clean
Project Summary
To tackle water pollution, a team of students is designing and building a robot that can detect and remove trash from local water sources, helping keep Denver’s waterways clean.
Detailed Story
Inspired by the impact of waste on local water sources, Yeraldine, Mariam, and Ermishe set out to develop a robot that can remove trash from water bodies. Their goal is to use technology to make water conservation more efficient and effective. Through their project, they are: – Designing a robotic prototype that can identify and collect floating waste – Testing different materials and mechanisms for efficiency – Exploring automation and AI features for improved functionality They hope their invention can serve as a model for larger-scale environmental cleanup projects. The robot will undergo testing and demonstrations in the coming months, with the final prototype expected by May 1, 2025.
