Are you interested in learning exactly how you can participate in the climate movement directly and do something to help solve the climate crisis?

The Climate Action Leadership Program (CALP) takes learning a step further. It gives participants the space, time, and support they need to actually bring climate action to their own communities.

Climate action does not need to be intimidating, and CALP is open to teens and adults alike. Hosted virtually, CALPers will be able to meet and connect with other like-minded people. Because CALP is so interactive, it provides a space for participants to share their thoughts, questions, concerns, and experiences surrounding climate change.

FAQs

There is a menu of types of action that participants can choose from. These options are available to help make action accessible to participants, no matter what their circumstances are. No action is too small. And for ambitious participants who want to make a splash, we are here to support you as well.

When designing the menu of climate actions, we took into consideration:
Time constraints, financial constraints, physical limitations, access to community resources, access to tools, and community connections. There are actions available to participants, no matter what challenges, hurdles, or constraints they need to be mindful of. Below are a few ideas of what action might look like. These ideas should be considered as a starting point for brainstorming.

Day of Action

Community Partnership Projects

CALP participants will partner up with a community partner, such as a local grassroots organization or school, or local business to carry out a project together. This can look like
- Attending a day of action that a community organization is already hosting. Is an organization near you advertising a day for the community to get together and work on a project that is good for the community?
  - OR helping the organization host an event for the community by reaching out and seeing how they can support the organization through volunteering time
  - OR helping a community organization carry out research for a project they have
- Reaching out to a local organization and seeing if they would be able to partner with you

Grant-Based projects

At this current time, The Climate Initiative does not offer Grant-Based Projects for CALP. However, organizations can use CALP to help with their own grants, and individuals can use CALP to develop an action plan to submit grant proposals
- Attending all four sessions and participating in them. CALP is an engaging program that allows participants to be in conversation with the host, as opposed to the host talked at the participants the whole time.
- Completing the accompanying worksheets. CALP has accompanying worksheets to help participants come up with their action projects. The final session, session four, we ask that the worksheet be shared with us so that we can keep track of the ideas that CALP participants have and build up a cache of climate ideas to share with future CALPers to draw inspiration from.
- Completing the action projects- they are self-designed as self-led, we encourage you to pick something you will enjoy doing and look forward to completing!
- Sharing your story and your impact. We have an existing action map! This map is where we will add your stories and impact for everyone to see. Inspire other future climate action leaders through your actions today!
