Project Summary

78 students studied invasive species’ impact on Gulf Coast land loss and engaged community members and legislators on the issue.

Detailed Story

Julie’s students completed several TCI learning labs, including invasive species, floods and droughts, and renewable energy. Their favorite was the invasive species lab because they were able to relate it to the loss of land along the Gulf in Louisiana, which invasive species contribute to. Students gained community input on how legislators are addressing the issue and educated others about projections of the amount of land that will be lost due to invasive species.
