75 students participated in planting 300 Bald Cypress Trees to combat climate change, sequester carbon, provide wildlife habitat, and cool the community.

Detailed Story

Through a 501(c)(3) organization called Green Trees Once More (dba SevenCypress.org), Peter has been engaging students as volunteers to plant trees. They planted 250 Bald Cypress Trees in 2023 and an additional 300 Cypress Trees on the Lake Apopka Preserve Drive on Earth Day 2024, plus 15 more for the City of Casselberry. Cypress Trees were selected for their ability to withstand periodic storms, their medicinal properties (their cones are used to make prostate medicine), and their longevity, which provides long-term environmental benefits.

Impact Statement

Planted 565 Bald Cypress Trees over two years (250 in 2023, 315 in 2024), providing long-term carbon sequestration, wildlife habitat, water filtration, and community cooling benefits.
