Welcome to CCPI 2024!

Thanks for your interest in joining our third cohort of the Collegiate Climate Policy Institute! CCPI 2024 will take a new form this year! Instead of being a three day program. CCPI 2024 will be a 6 month long part-time program from October 2023-April 2024.

In the first five months, CCPI Delegates will represent their state and work remotely to build or update the Climate Policy Toolkit in your state, territory or tribal community. You will work in a remote capacity five (5) hours a week, which will include an hour long cohort meeting biweekly. Through these five months, you will work closely with the Climate Initiative’s policy manager to ensure that this toolkit contains all the necessary and most up to date policy resources that will enable youth in your community to get involved in climate policy solutions.

After an approved draft of these toolkits are completed, CCPI Delegates will converge in Washington D.C. for a three day conference in April. The first day will be focused on working in person and as a group to finalize the draft of the toolkits, getting them ready for launch and converging minds as a group to discuss what climate policy solutions and shortfalls they have found through their research of the toolkits.

The second day will consist of panel discussions with climate policy and organizing experts working in the national or international climate policy space. This will expose delegates to climate careers and allow them to learn from people working in climate policy. On the final day delegates will meet with congressional representatives and be able to advocate for climate policy issues firsthand.

At TCI, we acknowledge that climate change is an equity issue with deep rooted disparities when it comes to economic, gender, social and ethnic diversity and putting our most vulnerable communities at risk. As such, we are committed to recruiting a diverse pool of participants in this program and providing financial aid to potential participants who may not have access to CCPI otherwise.

The Climate Initiative does not guarantee you will be able to meet with your state, territory or district’s senator or representative.

Completion of the program will earn delegates a CCPI Certificate of Completion. Additionally, airfare up to the cost of $600 and lodging for the duration of the in-person component will be covered by The Climate Initiative.
